I'm working on a portfolio for uni in which most pieces will be my own concepts of items/creatures/characters/environments from Brandon Sanderson's novel 'The Way of Kings' - which is a fantastic read!

This may not be how others see the Shardplate looking, but I'm also trying to play to my strengths for the portfolio so excuse any awful inaccuracies!

Edit: Changed the guys left hand/arm

Solid! Remember that there are no cloth or chain on Shardplate, it just breaks down into smaller interlocking plates at the joints, and you could be showing that here in the gaps at the knees (everyplace else looks covered). The visors on the helmets are kinda high for eye-level, and Shardblades are generally larger than normal swords, and often take on some exaggerated features (think typical anime BFS, and then be creative with it). For instance, Dalinar's blade is about 5-6 feet long and sweeps in light S-curve, with wavy points along the back of the blade and a hooked point. Even if they're not Shardblades, it's worth noting that swords are generally wider at the base of the blade than at the tip, these look to widen from the tip outward and that always looks a little cartoony.

From an illustration point, watch your perspective planes. The feet on the left-side fellow don't appear to be in the same perspective as the ground plane as suggested by the shadow and the cape. I like the overall tones of the metal, but not the glows (they need brighter cores, I think).

Good start though, and one of the better Plate interpretations I've seen. Nice!
